Kyle pulled his diesel truck onto the interstate after work. The weekend was here. Friends, barbeque, football, more barbeque, church, and more football. What more could a 30-year-old ask for out of life?
As expected, the traffic for a Friday afternoon was heavy but steady, bumper to bumper going 25. It meant that there were no accidents or road construction delays.
Just solid traffic.
“Ah, they put those marques up for all of us to notice. What a waste of money.” Kyle said but was drowned out by the country music blaring from his radio.
Each marquee line appeared, scrolling across the board into place and remaining for 7-10 seconds. Kyle kept a mental count of the time.

Unfortunately, Kyle never saw anything after the ‘Stop Texting’ line because even at 25 miles per hour, ramming into the back of a delivery truck has its consequences.
Make that 22,328 accidents.
Even though Kyle didn't, I saw that coming. Irony is always a fun read.
And, of course, the staff at the Department of Public Safety didn't take into consideration the distraction each 7-second sentence would be for a driver's concentration...
