Bea studied the weather map and considered the forecast.
“Cloudy with a chance of…exclamation points? What’s that about? Hey, Rick, see this here. Says it’ll be raining exclamation points soon.”
“What? I don’t understand. I hear every word you say, but they don’t make a lick of sense.”
“C’mere. I’ll show you,” Bea said.
Rick walked over to the computer and Bea pointed out the exclamation points.
“Severe weather, that’s all,” said Rick.
“Why didn’t they say that then? Why are they trying to confuse us?”
“They’re not trying to confuse. They just get tired of writing Severe Weather so they use exclamation points, happy suns, clouds, lightning bolts, anything to change up their speech.”
“So, it won’t be raining exclamation points?” Bea asked.
“Let me go take a look out there and see for myself.”
He walked over to the door and peeked between the blinds.
“Well, I’ll be. No exclamation points, but question marks and commas coming down in droves. Lots of commas.”
“Now, you’re poking fun.”
“Sure, but be careful of the colons and semi-colons. They’ll get you every time.”
