Running the cash register of a fast food restaurant wasn’t an exciting or demanding job, but Meghan liked it, loved it even. Management didn’t require her to help with fries, drinks, bakery items, packaging, or order fulfillment. She ran the cash register. That was it.
When business was slow, Meghan stared into the playground area, smiling at the kids doing what kids do best - play. Nobody asked her to do anything else, so she didn’t. She’d probably help out if she were asked, but nobody asked.
Meghan Tinley was friendly with customers, but had little interaction with them after they paid. By now, though, after doing it for 33 years, she couldn’t see herself doing anything else.
The pay and benefits were acceptable, and just loved taking their orders. What was the harm in that?
The self-help experts she heard online said she needed to better herself, control her destiny, and take the world by the horns. With a shrug, Meghan moved on to more entertaining videos. She didn’t need lectures or more of anything.
Hers was an easy, pleasant existence.
For Meghan Tinley, life was good, very good, stress-free, and enjoyable, a life many would envy if they knew such a life existed.
