“Uh, sir,” Sue the receptionist said as she reviewed Casey’s paperwork. “Could you come here for a second?”

Casey walked over to the counter and looked at the field Sue was pointing to on the registration form.

“We need the person you would contact if something, God forbid, were to happen to you.”

“But, it says…” said Casey.

“Sir, I know what it says and you are being truthful, but for future reference, when a form asks for In Case of Emergency Contact, you’ll need to put the person you could contact – like your next of kin – if something were to happen to you.”

“Okay, I guess. Why don’t they just say that? I thought it was strange, so I was being honest. I’d call 9-1-1 or just tap you guys on the shoulder and say ‘Hey, there’s an emergency over here!’ I mean, if you can’t call a doctor in an emergency, who can you call?”

I would also prefer 9-1-1 be first on the list in an emergency as well - call me strange I guess :)
