Rory Jamison hadn’t been a sports reporter long but he knew the routine: athletes start undressing and answer questions about the game before they hit the showers. After about 15-30 minutes of interviews, the reporters were ushered out by staff so the players can freshen up in privacy before leaving.
The interviews with the athletes and coaches weren’t exciting but it was a chance to get to know their thoughts about the game from their perspective. Jamison had yet to ask a question of one of the key players of the professional football team, so he chose the head coach.
“Yes, you,” said Coach Johnson. “I don’t believe we’ve met. State your name and organization you’re with.”
“Thank you, Coach. Rory Jamison, Highlight Sports International. Coach Johnson, could you describe your win without using phrases such as athleticism, professionalism, poise, execute, execution, deserve credit, and great competitor?”
The coach stared at Rory and slowly nodded.
“Interesting question, Rory. I’ll be watching you. Next!”
