After two phone and three in-person interviews, Rowan landed his dream accounting job at a Fortune 50 company. His first day of work would be on the first, a Friday.
After two weeks of background checks, drug tests, and onboarding paperwork, that Friday finally came.
He had three suits in his closet to choose from, so he chose the newest of the three – a dark brown tweed coat with tan elbow patches – to wear on his first day of work. Rowan would definitely make that first impression.
On Day One, after countless meetings, video teleconferences, phone calls, tours, and introductions, it was time for Rowan to pack up and head for home.
When he sat down at his computer to sign off, he saw a sticky note on the monitor with four words:
PINSTRIPES ONLY.
NO TWEED.
Too many rules these days. Poor Rowan, that was his best suit.
As always a great read.
So, during all those "countless meetings, video teleconferences, phone calls, tours, and introductions," nobody mentioned the NO TWEED rule? Sounds like that Fortune 50 company might have an every-man-for-himself attitude among its execs. Bummer.
