Randy's right. Just put that extra aside for when they come looking for it. (I'm pretty sure I've missed something here, so I'm gonna go back and read the story again.)
Nope. Couldn't find what I might have missed. I'm sure somebody's gonna tell me about it, though. 😁
I'm in a different place, but I don't think I could walk away with the money. My conscience would preclude it, and I'd know exactly what would be in my bank account. So if the teller said what was given me was right, I think I would have already had the excess money out of the stack and placed it on the counter as I turned away stating, "Sorry, I can't take what I'm sure is not mine." In my mind's eye I would see a set-up, to detain me and my wife so I'd never leave that country. That's not the way this story turned out, but it's what I perceived the expected ending to be. Bottom line: the best approach is always to not take the first step in the wrong direction.
Understand. Had several options to choose from at several points in the story. When forced out by the security guard, their options were limited.
Small portion of the event happened before our trip to Mongolia. They handed us too much and we brought it to their attention. They insisted at first but we persuaded them that they gave us more than we had in the account. They did see the error of their ways.
In this story, I just asked a few more 'what if' questions.
I didn't consider a set up though I'm getting more jaded by current events as time goes by...

Maria, you didn't miss anything. Randy setting it aside is probably the right thing.
